Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin sharply criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi's pre-election tours across Tamil Nadu, characterizing them as hollow political exercises devoid of genuine central commitment. Stalin emphasized that fiscal resources represent the vital oxygen of state administration, questioning the sincerity of central leaders who withhold legitimate financial allocations while professing affection for Tamil Nadu. He pointed out that despite catastrophic flood disasters striking multiple districts, the Union government refused to release essential disaster relief funds.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister exposed the Union government's habit of taking sole credit for joint welfare programs like Jal Jeevan Mission and PM Awas Yojana, where state government coffers bear the major financial share. Stalin condemned central branding tactics that plaster central labels onto projects overwhelmingly funded by state taxpayers. He noted that cooperative federalism is systematically undermined when the Centre chokes state finances while demanding unilateral political praise during electoral campaigns.
Stalin declared that misleading campaign claims cannot deceive the discerning people of Tamil Nadu. He reaffirmed that the DMK government will persistently defend state financial rights and demand fair fiscal federalism from the Union government.
