Union BJP Government's divisive agenda has weaponised the Citizenship Act, turning it from a beacon of humanity to a tool of discrimination based on religion and race through the enactment of #CAA. By betraying Muslims and Sri Lankan Tamils, they sowed seeds of division.
Despite staunch opposition from democratic forces like DMK, the #CAA was passed with the support of BJP's stooge ADMK. Fearing backlash from the people, the BJP kept the act in cold storage.
After DMK came to power in 2021, we passed a resolution in #TNLA urging the Union Government to repeal the #CAA to safeguard the unity of our nation, uphold social harmony, and protect the ideal of secularism enshrined in our constitution.
Now, as elections loom, Prime Minister Modi seeks to salvage his sinking ship by cynically resurrecting #CitizenshipAmendmentAct, exploiting religious sentiments for political gain.
However, the people of #INDIA will never forgive the BJP for unleashing this divisive #CitizenshipAmendmentAct and their spineless lackeys, the ADMK, who shamelessly supported it.
People will teach them a befitting lesson.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin delivered a scathing denunciation of the Union government for weaponizing the Citizenship Amendment Act to introduce religious and racial discrimination into Indian citizenship laws. Stalin stated that by systematically discriminating against Muslim citizens and Sri Lankan Tamil refugees, the ruling central regime has betrayed humanitarian constitutional values. He recalled that the law was passed in Parliament only because the AIADMK acted as a submissive ally, despite fervent opposition from DMK and democratic forces across India.
Stalin highlighted that immediately after assuming power in 2021, the DMK government passed a historic resolution in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly demanding the unconditional repeal of the contentious law. He condemned the Union government for cynically resurrecting the dormant act immediately before general elections, attempting to exploit religious sentiments to salvage its political standing. Stalin pointed out that India's secular fabric cannot be sacrificed for partisan electoral calculations.
The Chief Minister asserted that conscientious citizens across India will never forgive the BJP and its regional allies for compromising national unity. He expressed firm confidence that voters will teach divisive forces an unforgettable lesson in the upcoming democratic elections.
