#NoCAAInTamilNadu:

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin issued an unequivocal declaration reaffirming that his administration will never allow the divisive Citizenship Amendment Act to be implemented in Tamil Nadu. Following the Union government's notification of the Citizenship Amendment Rules 2024 on the eve of parliamentary elections, Stalin reminded citizens that the DMK consistently fought the discriminatory legislation at every stage. The party voted against the bill in Parliament, organized massive statewide signature campaigns, and spearheaded historic street protests alongside civil society allies.
Upon assuming office in 2021, Stalin's government passed an official resolution in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly urging the Union government to repeal the law to safeguard communal harmony. Stalin stressed that differentiating citizenship based on religion and deliberately excluding Sri Lankan Tamil refugees and Muslim minorities violates the core secular tenets of the Indian Constitution. He condemned the timing of the notification as a cynical attempt by the ruling party to polarize society for short-term electoral dividends.
The Chief Minister assured all citizens that Tamil Nadu stands firm as an impregnable fortress of communal brotherhood and constitutional secularism. He vowed that no discriminatory central regulation will be allowed to divide the state's cohesive people.
