Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin launched a comprehensive counter-attack against Prime Minister Narendra Modi's statements regarding Katchatheevu and Tamil Nadu fishermen's safety, asking whether the Prime Minister is a 'Vishwa Guru or Mouna Guru'. Stalin dismissed Modi's allegations blaming the DMK for the historic transfer of Katchatheevu, reminding him that the islet was ceded by the Union government despite vehement protests and official assembly resolutions passed by the DMK government led by M. Karunanidhi. He asked what concrete actions the BJP government took over the past ten years to retrieve Katchatheevu or protect Indian fishermen from persistent harassment and arrests by the Sri Lankan Navy.
Stalin questioned why the Union government exerted diplomatic pressure on Colombo for corporate business interests while remaining silent on the traditional fishing rights and boat confiscations of Tamil fishermen. He emphasized that the coastal community clearly recognizes the Union government's diplomatic failure, affirming that attempts to mislead the public ahead of elections will not succeed.
The Chief Minister declared that the fishermen of Tamil Nadu will hold the Union government accountable for its neglect. Stalin asserted that the INDIA alliance will prioritize maritime rights and ensure absolute security for Indian fishermen.
