On behalf of the people of Tamil Nadu, I thank the Hon'ble Supreme Court, the custodian of the Constitution, for its timely intervention & upholding the spirit of the Constitution and saving the democracy.
In the last decade, the people of #INDIA witnessed the dithering of democracy, withering of federalism and misadventures to put spikes before the functioning of sovereign governments elected by the people and giving age-old traditions a go by.
#Elections2024 are crucial to save the democracy and uphold the Constitution.
Let us strive hard to prevent the brazen abuse of the power by fascist forces threatening to ruin our glorious nation.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin expressed profound gratitude to the Supreme Court of India for its timely intervention in upholding constitutional morality and saving democracy. Stalin commended the highest judicial forum for firmly reminding Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi to abide by the Constitution and act in accordance with the aid and advice of the elected Council of Ministers. The Chief Minister noted that the Supreme Court's decisive stance reaffirmed the supremacy of parliamentary democracy over gubernatorial obstinacy.
The apex court bench had sharply questioned the Governor's refusal to swear in K. Ponmudy as Cabinet Minister after the Supreme Court stayed his conviction. Stalin emphasized that unelected constitutional functionaries cannot arrogate to themselves the power to veto court orders or override decisions made by the state legislature. He observed that this landmark judicial intervention sends an unequivocal message to governors across India that constitutional provisions must serve as the absolute guiding light for all official actions.
Stalin expressed hope that the Governor will conduct himself within constitutional parameters in the future. He affirmed that the Tamil Nadu government will continue to protect democratic institutions against authoritarian incursions through steadfast constitutional resolve.
