Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin launched a stinging indictment of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's administration for its callous treatment of India's agricultural community. Stalin recalled that Modi assumed power promising to double farmers' incomes, but instead enacted the three corporate-oriented farm laws that struck at farmers' livelihoods. He pointed out that over seven hundred farmers sacrificed their lives during prolonged peaceful protests on Delhi's borders before the Union government reluctantly repealed the legislation, only to abandon its written guarantees regarding statutory minimum support prices.
Stalin condemned the severe police measures deployed against cultivators marching to the capital, including razor-wire barricades, nail-studded roads, tear gas drones, and deep concrete trenches. He questioned how an administration that tortures the nation's food providers can claim to represent ordinary working citizens. Stalin contrasted this hostility with Tamil Nadu's proactive agrarian policies, including presenting exclusive annual agriculture budgets, providing round-the-clock free agricultural electricity, and distributing generous input subsidies to protect cultivators from climate risks.
The Chief Minister called on farmers across the country to unite against central oppression. Stalin urged the electorate to back the INDIA alliance to ensure guaranteed crop prices and agrarian dignity.
