Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president M.K. Stalin responded with sharp sarcasm to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's public statement declining to contest the parliamentary elections due to an alleged lack of financial resources. Stalin shared a video highlighting the irony of a sitting Union Finance Minister claiming insufficient campaign funds while presiding over the nation's financial policies and the BJP's massive electoral bond accumulations. He noted that ordinary citizens found the excuse utterly unconvincing.
Stalin pointed out that official disclosure records revealed that the ruling BJP amassed thousands of crores of rupees through opaque electoral bonds, making it the wealthiest political party in national history. He argued that the Union Minister's reluctance to face the electorate stemmed not from monetary constraints, but from acute anxiety over answering to voters regarding inflation, rising fuel prices, persistent youth unemployment, and regressive taxation policies like GST on essential commodities.
The Chief Minister stated that avoiding public accountability at the ballot box reflects an acknowledgment of policy failures. Stalin called upon the electorate to vote for INDIA alliance candidates to establish a transparent government committed to people's economic welfare.
