Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president M.K. Stalin posed three direct, hard-hitting questions to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, criticizing the central leadership for feigning sudden concern for Tamil fishermen only during election cycles after a decade of complete indifference. Stalin called upon the Prime Minister to respond transparently without resorting to rhetoric and diversionary political tactics.
First, Stalin questioned why the Union government returns merely twenty-nine paise for every rupee that Tamil Nadu contributes as tax revenue to the central exchequer. Second, the Chief Minister pointedly asked why the Centre refused to release even a single rupee in natural disaster relief, despite Tamil Nadu enduring two catastrophic climatic calamities within weeks in Chennai and the southern districts. Third, Stalin demanded to know whether the BJP administration had initiated even a single landmark special project for Tamil Nadu during its entire ten-year tenure.
The Chief Minister asserted that the people of Tamil Nadu demand concrete answers rather than empty campaign promises. Stalin urged voters to register their protest against central discrimination by voting overwhelmingly for the INDIA alliance on April 19 to establish a fair and accountable Union administration.
