Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin paid rich tributes to heroic anti-colonial warrior Dheeran Chinnamalai on his birth anniversary, celebrating his fearless resistance against British imperial rule and his enduring status as a symbol of social solidarity. Stalin recalled Chinnamalai's historic fortress at Odanilai and his legendary guerrilla campaigns, which severely challenged British colonial expansion across the Kongu region in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries.
The Chief Minister highlighted Chinnamalai's celebrated interception of unjust tax revenues collected between Chennimalai and Sivanmalai, redistributing the seized wealth among impoverished local citizens. Stalin noted that Chinnamalai's rebellion was rooted in economic justice, peasant welfare, and fierce defense of local autonomy, inspiring generations of patriots who struggled for national independence and human dignity.
Connecting Chinnamalai's anti-imperialist legacy to contemporary democratic challenges, Stalin urged citizens to draw courage from the freedom fighter's sacrifices. On his birth anniversary, the Chief Minister called upon the people of Tamil Nadu to pledge to protect modern India against authoritarian central governance, asserting that defending constitutional liberties is the truest tribute to our soil's valiant heroes throughout our nation.
