Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin cast his ballot during the first phase of the 2024 parliamentary elections at an election polling booth in Chennai, declaring that exercising the franchise is a vital democratic duty to safeguard the nation. Following the casting of his vote alongside family members, Stalin addressed reporters and the public, appealing for high voter turnout across all thirty-nine constituencies in Tamil Nadu and the Union Territory of Puducherry.
The Chief Minister specifically urged first-time voters and youth to turn out in large numbers and participate actively in the electoral process, stating that the future direction, constitutional character, and democratic health of India rest squarely in their hands. Stalin noted that enthusiastic participation by young citizens serves as the strongest guarantee for protecting civil liberties, pluralism, and economic opportunities for the coming generations.
Emphasizing that every vote carries the power to protect secular democracy, federalism, and social justice, Stalin encouraged citizens to fulfill their civic obligation conscientiously. He praised the election machinery, police personnel, and polling staff for facilitating orderly voting operations and ensuring accessible facilities for senior citizens and disabled voters across polling centers statewide.
