Editorial context

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin marked World Book Day by extolling books as priceless instruments of societal transformation, enlightenment, and intellectual liberation. Describing books as the key to new worlds, the fountainhead of knowledge, and the bedrock of education, Stalin urged citizens across Tamil Nadu to cultivate a deep passion for reading, exchange literature, and present books as gifts to inspire younger generations.

Reflecting on his personal initiative urging visitors to present him with books rather than shawls or bouquets, Stalin revealed that more than 2.5 lakh books gifted to him have been cataloged and distributed to public libraries, village reading rooms, and underprivileged students statewide. This ongoing book redistribution movement has helped replenish municipal libraries, establish reading facilities in remote rural habitations, and broaden educational horizons for rural youth.

Stalin emphasized that an informed, well-read citizenry serves as the strongest bulwark against dogmatism, sectarian prejudice, and superstition. Reaffirming his administration's support for public libraries, including the iconic Kalaignar Centenary Library in Madurai and district book fairs across all thirty-eight districts, the Chief Minister wished that books blossom in every hand, nurturing enlightened progressive minds statewide.

This is an initiative of unofficial DMK and Dravidian Ideology supporter, a fan of Thanthai Periyar, Perarignar Anna and Kalaignar — not affiliated with any official DMK party or persons.
