Editorial context

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin highlighted the state's century-long legacy of empowering marginalized communities, in an address delivered on his behalf by DMK Member of Parliament P. Wilson at the Samruddha Bharat Foundation's national conference. Stalin asserted that Tamil Nadu has served as the pioneer of social justice in the subcontinent, tracing systemic affirmative action and subaltern empowerment back to the historic governance initiatives of the Justice Party in the 1920s.

The Chief Minister emphasized that true national development cannot be realized without dismantling caste disparities, extending proportional representation, and ensuring equitable educational and economic opportunities for backward, scheduled, and minority communities. He noted that Tamil Nadu's sixty-nine percent reservation framework and extensive social welfare models demonstrate that social equality and economic competitiveness can advance symbiotically.

Stalin urged progressive political organizations and civil society groups across the country to unite around social justice as a central ideological pillar for the INDIA bloc. He called for a nationwide caste census, adequate representation in the judiciary, and progressive reservations in union educational institutions, reiterating that Tamil Nadu will continue spearheading the journey toward a more egalitarian and inclusive India.
