Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin visited May Day Park in Chintadripet, Chennai, on International Workers' Day, extending warm May Day greetings to trade union functionaries, DMK cadres, and the working-class public. Stalin paid floral tributes to the historic May Day martyrs' memorial, honoring the heroic historical struggles that secured fundamental labor rights, eight-hour workdays, and social security protections worldwide.
The Chief Minister reaffirmed the Dravidian Model government's enduring commitment to labor welfare, social security, and fair employment conditions across industrial, agricultural, and unorganized sectors. Stalin highlighted that Tamil Nadu continues to be a pioneer in establishing tripartite labor welfare boards, ensuring statutory minimum wages, expanding worker health insurance coverage, and creating institutional safety nets for contract and informal laborers.
Addressing trade union representatives, Stalin recalled that former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi had declared May 1 a paid public holiday and raised the May Day memorial in Chennai to institutionalize public respect for labor dignity. The Chief Minister pledged that his administration would always stand in solidarity with working people, defending statutory labor safeguards and promoting equitable industrial growth for all workers.
