Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin stated that widespread discrepancies emerging from the 2024 NEET undergraduate exam results have comprehensively vindicated Tamil Nadu's longstanding, principled opposition to centralized medical entrance testing. Highlighting alarming reports of question paper leaks, clustering of high-ranking candidates in select examination centres, and the arbitrary awarding of mathematically impossible scores under the guise of grace marks, Stalin asserted that these scandals expose the grave structural flaws of excessive centralisation.
The Chief Minister reiterated that hyper-centralized testing frameworks undermine federalism, dismantle the sanctity of school education, and perpetuate blatant social injustice by denying opportunities to underprivileged students. In addition, centralized allocation threatens regional public healthcare delivery by discouraging locally rooted medical professionals from serving in remote rural healthcare facilities. Stalin stressed that determining professional admission criteria must rightfully return to state governments and the school certification system.
Stalin called upon political parties, state governments, educators, and civil society across India to unite in abolishing NEET. Emphasizing that the struggle against testing commercialization is nearing a decisive turning point, Stalin vowed that Tamil Nadu will persist in the legal and political fight to eradicate this pervasive barrier.
