Transcending religious boundaries, the contributions of the Jains to Tamil literature and society are of immense importance. The influence of Jainism permeates various aspects of Tamil culture. The Jains were pioneers in introducing an early form of dictionary (thesaurus) to the Tamil language. Furthermore, they were the authors of many books on Tamil grammar. This book 'Ancient Jain Legacy of Tamil Nadu' by Ruchi Pritam delves into the enduring legacy of the Jains, exploring their profound contribution to Tamil literature and society. I am sure that this book will be helpful to both general readers and researchers.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin strongly condemned the Union BJP government after the Ministry of External Affairs denied diplomatic clearance for a state delegation to travel to Kuwait following a catastrophic dormitory fire that claimed numerous Indian workers' lives. The Tamil Nadu government had deputed Minorities Welfare and Non-Resident Tamils Welfare Minister Gingee K.S. Masthan and senior IAS officer K. Gopal to personally oversee the repatriation of deceased Tamil workers and support hospitalized survivors.
Stalin termed the Union government's arbitrary refusal an egregious assault on the principles of cooperative federalism and basic humanitarian solidarity. He argued that during times of overseas tragedy, state governments have an undeniable moral and administrative duty to provide immediate comfort, consular support, and logistical coordination to their expatriate workers, many of whom are sole breadwinners from vulnerable rural households.
The Chief Minister pointed out that politicizing international distress relief diminishes India's image and compounds the agony of grieving families waiting desperately for news of their loved ones. Stalin demanded that the Union government respect state autonomy and abandon bureaucratic roadblocks that obstruct regional governments from aiding their diaspora citizens.
