Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin expressed profound anguish over the Kallakurichi illicit liquor deaths, describing the incident as an avoidable tragedy that should never have occurred. Stalin announced the constitution of a one-man inquiry commission headed by retired Madras High Court Judge B. Gokuldass to investigate the root causes of the disaster, uncover administrative lapses, and submit actionable recommendations to the government to ensure such incidents never recur in Tamil Nadu.
The Chief Minister confirmed that he is closely supervising the multi-departmental emergency response, dispatching senior cabinet ministers, the Home Secretary, and the Director General of Police to Kallakurichi to supervise medical relief and enforcement on the ground. Stalin announced immediate financial solatium for the families of the deceased and confirmed that hospitalized individuals are receiving advanced tertiary healthcare, including specialized dialysis and antidote therapies, under the care of expert medical teams.
Stalin emphasized that the state government is taking uncompromising punitive measures against everyone involved in the illicit liquor trade. By instituting a rigorous judicial probe alongside immediate administrative suspensions, the government aims to expose supply chains, overhaul prohibition monitoring, and enforce absolute accountability to protect vulnerable communities across Tamil Nadu.
