The cancellation of NEET-PG by NBE, following the cancellation of UGC-NET, has thrown thousands of our doctors into deep despair. Let us not forget the fact that these happenings are not one-off events but the final nails in the coffin of an incompetent and broken system of centralised selection. As this scam unravels, let us plan for a better future and join our hands
- for building a fair and equitable selection process for professional courses.
- for ensuring the primacy of school education and making it the base for careers.
- for restoring the rights of States to determine their selection process for professional courses.
- most importantly, for reinstalling hope and faith in the minds of our students and their families.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin strongly criticized the Union government and the National Board of Examinations following the abrupt eleventh-hour cancellation of the NEET-PG entrance examination, which occurred closely on the heels of the scrapped UGC-NET exam. Stalin asserted that these repeated administrative failures are not isolated mishaps, but conclusive evidence of an incompetent, broken system of centralized testing that inflicts profound psychological despair and financial hardship upon thousands of young medical professionals nationwide.
The Chief Minister called for building a national consensus to dismantle centralized entrance testing, urging state governments and political parties to unite around four core educational objectives. These include establishing fair and transparent admission procedures, restoring the primacy of school curricula as the foundation for higher learning, reinstating the constitutional rights of states to oversee professional course admissions, and rebuilding student faith in academic merit.
Stalin emphasized that the systemic collapse of national testing agencies vindicates Tamil Nadu's long-standing warning against hyper-centralized examinations. He reiterated that education must return to the state domain, enabling provincial administrations to craft admission frameworks tailored to regional healthcare infrastructure and local students' developmental needs.
