Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced a major rural infrastructure expansion in the Legislative Assembly, allocating 4,000 crore rupees to upgrade 10,000 kilometers of village roads over the next two years. Implemented under the Chief Minister's Rural Road Development Scheme, the initiative aims to enhance physical connectivity across remote habitations, modernizing agricultural logistics and facilitating smoother daily commutes for rural residents, students, and local traders.

Stalin described rural roads as the vital circulatory system of the village economy, directly linking agrarian producers with municipal markets, educational campuses, and primary healthcare centers. He pointed out that durable all-weather bitumen roads stimulate local commerce, reduce vehicle operating expenses, and eliminate regional transport bottlenecks that historically hindered economic mobility in remote agrarian panchayats.

The Chief Minister emphasized that balanced development under the Dravidian Model governance requires parity between urban growth corridors and village infrastructure. By systematically modernizing rural road networks, the administration seeks to improve living standards, generate local employment, and bridge developmental disparities between districts.
