Stalin welcomed the release of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren following a high court bail order, describing his pre-election arrest as an orchestrated political witch-hunt by the Union BJP government. Soren, a prominent tribal leader and head of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, spent five months incarcerated after federal investigative agencies detained him shortly before the 2024 parliamentary elections, forcing his resignation from office and barring him from campaigning.
Stalin asserted that weaponizing statutory investigation agencies against elected regional leaders constitutes an assault on democratic norms, federal governance, and constitutional safeguards.
