Chief Minister M.K. Stalin highlighted major agrarian policies and farmer welfare initiatives announced for the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department during the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly session. In the second post of his serialized legislative overview, Stalin tagged Agriculture Minister M.R.K. Panneerselvam, outlining substantial budgetary provisions for farm mechanization, organic farming subsidies, micro-irrigation expansion, and agricultural marketing infrastructure across the state.
The legislative decisions feature subsidized distribution of agricultural machinery, expanded crop insurance assistance, promotion of traditional millets, and financial incentives for farmers adopting natural cultivation techniques. Stalin pointed out that presenting a separate annual Agricultural Budget has revitalized Tamil Nadu's rural economy, increasing total cultivated acreage, boosting food grain production, and insulating farmers from unpredictable market price fluctuations.
Stalin observed that the Dravidian Model governance places agricultural sustainability and farmer welfare at the forefront of state policy design. By expanding localized value-addition centers, providing free agricultural electricity, and desilting canal networks, the government systematically reduces farming operational costs. Stalin affirmed that Tamil Nadu will continue executing visionary agrarian policies that protect rural livelihoods, enhance farmer incomes, and ensure lasting statewide food security.
