Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin presented ambitious urban infrastructure projects announced for the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority during the Legislative Assembly session. In the seventh installment of his legislative summary series, Stalin tagged Minister P.K. Sekarbabu and the CMDA administration, detailing multi-crore civic investments aimed at decongesting transit hubs, creating modern bus terminals, and developing world-class public recreation spaces across the metropolitan region.
The assembly announcements encompass the construction of decentralized satellite bus termini, expansion of civic amenities in newly incorporated peri-urban zones, development of organized commercial complexes, and extensive pedestrian infrastructure improvements. Stalin emphasized that planned urban decentralization prevents infrastructure bottlenecks in central Chennai while fostering balanced regional growth, creating local economic opportunities, and enhancing living conditions across northern and southern suburbs.
Stalin highlighted that the Dravidian Model governance focuses on transforming Chennai into a climate-resilient, livable, and socially inclusive metropolis. By modernizing transport interchanges and incorporating accessible public open spaces into town planning, the government ensures equitable urban development for all social strata. Stalin reiterated that CMDA's visionary projects will continue enhancing public convenience and establishing benchmark civic infrastructure across the capital region.
