Chief Minister M.K. Stalin shared key development decisions and affordable housing initiatives formulated by the Housing and Urban Development Department during the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly session. Posting the eighth part of his comprehensive legislative report, Stalin tagged Housing Minister S. Muthusamy, detailing state projects to expand urban housing stocks, regulate civic growth, and upgrade living standards for economically vulnerable urban families.
The legislative measures feature approvals for large-scale slum clearance redevelopments, construction of resilient multi-story tenements with piped drinking water and sewage networks, and updated regional town planning master plans for emerging municipal corridors. Stalin highlighted that planned urbanization must guarantee equitable housing access, ensuring that informal workers, street vendors, and low-income laborers secure safe, permanent dwellings near urban economic centers.
Stalin observed that the Dravidian Model of urban development prioritizes human dignity alongside modern infrastructure creation. By systematically replacing vulnerable shanties with durable concrete housing and establishing inclusive civic amenities, the state administration prevents urban segregation and promotes shared upward social mobility. Stalin affirmed that Tamil Nadu will consistently execute sustainable urban housing policies that provide comfort, security, and equal civic opportunities for all residents.
