Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin highlighted vital energy sector reforms and power infrastructure projects announced for the Energy Department during the Legislative Assembly session proceedings. Posting the tenth installment of his legislative summary series, Stalin tagged Finance and Electricity Minister Thangam Thennarasu alongside the state power utility TANGEDCO, detailing strategic state investments to expand renewable generation, modernize distribution networks, and ensure uninterrupted power supply.
The assembly announcements include the commissioning of high-capacity substations, installation of smart distribution transformers, expansion of agricultural solar pumps, and major green energy corridor projects to evacuate wind and solar power efficiently. Stalin noted that maintaining an uninterrupted, high-quality electricity supply is essential for driving Tamil Nadu's industrial growth, supporting agricultural productivity, and ensuring domestic consumer comfort across rural and urban centers.
Stalin emphasized that the Dravidian Model government is aggressively steering Tamil Nadu toward a green energy transition while maintaining vital social subsidies, such as free electricity for farmers and subsidized household connections. By reducing grid transmission losses and adding green power capacity, the government ensures energy self-reliance. Stalin reaffirmed that Tamil Nadu will consistently upgrade electricity infrastructure to power statewide economic development sustainably.
