Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin highlighted pioneering environmental policies and ecological conservation programs announced for the Environment, Climate Change, and Forest Department during the Legislative Assembly session. In the twelfth post of his legislative summary series, Stalin tagged Environment Minister Siva V. Meyyanathan and Forest Minister Dr. M. Mathiventhan, detailing forward-looking state projects to protect biodiversity.
The assembly announcements encompass expanding mangrove restoration along vulnerable coastlines, creating new wildlife sanctuaries, establishing climate-smart village initiatives, and enforcing strict wetland conservation standards across districts. Stalin noted that Tamil Nadu has emerged as an undisputed national leader in climate governance, establishing dedicated climate missions, a Green Tamil Nadu Mission, and a pioneering biodiversity conservation foundation to address global ecological risks proactively.
Stalin underscored that environmental protection and sustainable development must advance hand-in-hand to safeguard future generations. By investing in nature-based solutions, regenerating degraded forest lands, and curbing plastic pollution, the administration ensures long-term climate resilience. Stalin reaffirmed that Tamil Nadu will consistently enact progressive environmental legislation, combining modern scientific ecological management with community participation to preserve the state's natural heritage and forests.
