Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin rolled out a revolutionary administrative reform by launching an instant, single-window online building plan approval system based on citizen self-certification for residential plots up to 2,500 square feet. The scheme eliminates bureaucratic delays, physical municipal visits, and discretionary administrative hurdles for middle-class citizens constructing homes.
Stalin recounted that upon learning about the complex regulatory clearances previously required to build modest houses on small plots, he directed urban development authorities to simplify procedures immediately. Under the new digital portal, citizens and licensed professionals can submit digitized building plans accompanied by a self-declaration affidavit and download approved building permits instantly.
The Chief Minister described the initiative as a shining embodiment of people-centric governance under the Dravidian Model, which places deep trust in citizens while eradicating corruption and administrative red tape.
