Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin dedicated major residential housing projects constructed across multiple districts at a total combined investment of over 924 crore rupees. The inaugurations represent a significant stride in the state's mission to provide secure, permanent, disaster-resilient housing to economically weaker sections and government employees.
Under the Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board, the Chief Minister opened 4,184 newly constructed multi-storey tenements built at an expenditure of 541.32 crore rupees. These residential complexes are equipped with wide internal roads, clean drinking water supply, sewage treatment plants, community halls, and preschool centers, ensuring dignified living environments for relocated slum-dwellers and vulnerable urban families.
Additionally, Stalin inaugurated 1,459 modern rental residential quarters and commercial complexes built by the Tamil Nadu Housing Board at a cost of 382.84 crore rupees for state government employees. The new housing units provide comfortable, affordable accommodation close to administrative offices.
The Chief Minister stressed that housing security forms the foundation of family stability, social dignity, and intergenerational progress. Stalin affirmed that Tamil Nadu will continue accelerating public housing construction to achieve a slum-free urban landscape across the state.
