Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin dedicated major dairy infrastructure projects across several districts and laid the foundation stone for a thirty-three crore rupee modern cattle feed production plant in Cuddalore. The initiatives aim to strengthen the operational capacity of state-run dairy cooperative Aavin and boost incomes for rural dairy farmers.
The newly commissioned facilities include a dairy processing plant in Karur constructed at 2.30 crore rupees, a dairy unit in Tiruvannamalai built at 2.85 crore rupees, and a modern curd and buttermilk manufacturing plant at Kakkalur in Tiruvallur district at 3.57 crore rupees. Additionally, Stalin opened an advanced pathogen diagnostic laboratory at Madhavaram built for 1.89 crore rupees to ensure rigorous milk quality and safety standards.
Stalin observed that Aavin has become an integral household name across Tamil Nadu, providing nutritious milk products to consumers while securing fair procurement prices for lakhs of rural milk producers. Expanding automated processing capacity enables the cooperative to meet growing urban consumer demand and reduce post-procurement spoilage.
The Chief Minister emphasized that cooperative dairying remains a pillar of rural economic resilience. He affirmed that the government will continue investing in state-of-the-art cold chains, processing units, and farmer support systems.
