Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated newly constructed Panchayat Union office buildings across several rural blocks under the Department of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj. Built with modern architectural planning and digital amenities, these administrative complexes replace aging rural offices, creating efficient working environments for block-level officers and grassroots elected representatives.
The new facilities feature spacious council halls for elected panchayat representatives, citizen facilitation counters, computer monitoring units for welfare tracking, and barrier-free access ramps for differently abled visitors. Stalin noted that decentralization succeeds only when grassroots administrative institutions are equipped with modern infrastructure to implement welfare schemes and manage public funds transparently.
The Chief Minister emphasized that strengthening rural local bodies remains central to achieving balanced regional growth under the Dravidian Model governance. Upgrading block offices enables faster processing of agricultural subsidies, drinking water initiatives, village road expansions, and rural employment generation schemes like the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.
Stalin commended department officials and engineers for completing construction on schedule. He reiterated that his administration will continue investing in rural civic assets to bridge the infrastructural divide between villages and urban cities.
