Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced five crore rupees in direct financial assistance alongside comprehensive medical and rescue support to aid the disaster-hit neighboring state of Kerala following catastrophic landslides in Wayanad. The landslides swept away entire hillside settlements, resulting in severe casualties and trapping hundreds of residents beneath muddy debris.
Stalin spoke telephonically with Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to convey Tamil Nadu's profound sorrow and solidarity in the wake of the tragedy. He assured Vijayan that Tamil Nadu stands ready to offer all necessary logistical, operational, and medical resources to assist search and rehabilitation operations.
Under the Chief Minister's directions, two teams headed by senior Indian Administrative Service officers were immediately deployed to Wayanad to coordinate field operations. Tamil Nadu also dispatched a specialized medical unit comprising doctors and nurses, alongside elite Fire and Rescue Services personnel equipped with disaster management gear.
Stalin emphasized that natural calamities transcend state boundaries and demand unified, compassionate humanitarian action. He affirmed that Tamil Nadu remains committed to supporting Kerala throughout rescue, rehabilitation, and long-term reconstruction, underscoring the enduring brotherhood between the two southern states.
