Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin expressed immense pride as the iconic Kalaignar Centenary Library in Madurai crossed the monumental milestone of welcoming over one million readers and researchers within a remarkably brief period since its opening. Constructed as a state-of-the-art knowledge repository, the library has rapidly evolved into an indispensable intellectual landmark for students and scholars across southern Tamil Nadu.
Stalin noted that the institution was founded with the inspiring vision of nurturing intellectually accomplished Tamils who can lead global conversations in science, humanities, and governance. Equipped with extensive digital archives, competitive examination wings, assistive technology rooms for visually impaired readers, and expansive children's sections, the library democratizes access to world literature.
Following this extraordinary public response, the Chief Minister announced that the state government is actively constructing similar state-of-the-art regional libraries in Tiruchirappalli and Coimbatore. These knowledge infrastructure projects will extend modern library facilities to central and western districts, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
Stalin emphasized that investing in public libraries enriches society's collective intellectual horizon and fuels socio-economic progress. He congratulated library staff and readers, reaffirming that the administration will continue building public knowledge spaces across Tamil Nadu.
