Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin extended a warm welcome to one hundred Tamil youth representing fifteen different foreign countries who arrived in Chennai for the second annual edition of the Vergalai Thedi cultural discovery program. The flagship initiative, launched by the Department of Non-Resident Tamils Welfare, reconnects young diaspora Tamils with their ancestral roots, cultural heritage, and modern advancements.
Stalin expressed hope that the participants' educational journey across Tamil Nadu will prove both intellectually enriching and deeply memorable. During their multi-week guided tour, the delegates will visit monumental archaeological sites, historic temples, modern industrial manufacturing corridors, scientific research institutions, and prominent cultural hubs across multiple districts.
The Chief Minister noted that millions of Tamils emigrated across continents over centuries, making notable contributions to their adopted lands while retaining a deep longing for their motherland. Vergalai Thedi provides younger generations born abroad a direct, immersive experience of Tamil civilization's linguistic richness, rationalist traditions, and progressive governance.
Stalin emphasized that the global Tamil community remains an indivisible family bound by common history and cultural pride. He reiterated that Tamil Nadu will continue creating institutional bridges to foster enduring connections with the worldwide diaspora.
