With the addition of Nanjarayan Bird Sanctuary in Tiruppur District and Kazhuveli Bird Sanctuary in Villupuram District, our Tamil Nadu now boasts 18 #Ramsar sites.
This continuous achievement reflects the dedicated efforts of the Tamil Nadu Forest Department and the #DravidianModel of Governance’s commitment to environmental conservation.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin presided over the 78th Independence Day celebrations at Fort St. George in Chennai, unfurling the national tricolor and conferring distinguished state awards upon outstanding citizens for exemplary public service. Stalin presented the prestigious 'Thagaisal Thamizhar' Award to veteran freedom fighter, Gandhian ideologue, and senior parliamentarian Kumari Ananthan in recognition of his lifelong dedication to social harmony, public welfare, and the promotion of classical Tamil language and literature.
The Chief Minister also presented state awards to Dr. V. Jayachandran for dedicated service toward the rehabilitation of differently-abled persons, alongside conferring the Kalpana Chawla Award for courage, the Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Award for scientific achievement, and the Chief Minister's Good Governance Awards to innovative public servants across departments. Stalin commended each recipient for demonstrating exceptional integrity, selflessness, courage, and public dedication.
Stalin reiterated that honoring eminent contributors to public life reflects Tamil Nadu's foundational ethos of gratitude, reverence for sacrifice, intellectual respect, and compassionate social welfare. He reaffirmed his government's resolve to uphold freedom, communal harmony, and social justice as the guiding lights of the Dravidian Model of governance philosophy.
