Tamil Nadu is the No. 1 state in India, with 42% of the nation’s total working women.
For the first time in India, we have constructed and inaugurated a mega infrastructure project offering safe housing for 18,720 working women—the #SIPCOT Industrial Housing Facility in Thiruperumpudur.
Thanks to @SIPCOTTN and @HonHai_Foxconn!

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated India's largest and first-of-its-kind mega industrial housing facility at Vallam Vadagal near Sriperumbudur, built by SIPCOT at a cost of 706 crore rupees to provide safe, comfortable accommodation for 18,720 working women employed in electronics manufacturing. Stalin highlighted that Tamil Nadu stands as India's foremost leader in female labor participation, accounting for over 42 percent of the nation's total industrial women workforce.
Constructed in partnership with Foxconn Hon Hai Technology India, the state-of-the-art residential complex features round-the-clock security, mechanized dining halls, healthcare clinics, recreational spaces, and dedicated transport connectivity. The Chief Minister commended SIPCOT and Foxconn leadership for executing this pioneering model of worker welfare infrastructure, setting a national benchmark for women's industrial safety.
Stalin affirmed that empowering women through dignified employment and secure living conditions lies at the very core of the Dravidian Model of governance. He stated that investing in female workforce safety enhances economic independence, workplace productivity, and gender equality across Tamil Nadu. The Chief Minister reiterated his government's resolve to replicate similar worker housing projects across key manufacturing corridors, ensuring inclusive social advancement.
