Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin visited his home constituency of Kolathur to inaugurate a series of completed civic welfare facilities and lay foundation stones for new infrastructure works under the flagship North Chennai Development Plan. Implemented through the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority, the comprehensive urban transformation initiative aims to eliminate historical infrastructure deficits in North Chennai by providing state-of-the-art public amenities, upgraded roads, and modern community centres.
The Chief Minister unveiled modern education centres, community halls, stormwater drain networks, and upgraded parks designed to enhance civic livability for working-class families. Stalin inspected ongoing civic works and interacted directly with local residents, reaffirming his administration's commitment to equitable urban modernization across all neighborhoods of Chennai.
Stalin emphasized that the North Chennai Development Plan reflects the core Dravidian Model principle of social equity in urban planning. He noted that marginalized working-class localities deserve the same high-quality infrastructure, public parks, and educational resources as affluent residential zones. The Chief Minister directed urban planning officials to maintain strict timelines and superior construction standards, ensuring that modernized civic infrastructure serves local communities effectively for decades to come.
