Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin congratulated Youth Welfare and Sports Development Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin and the sports department for successfully hosting India's premier Formula 4 night street race in Chennai. Stalin observed that conducting a high-profile international motorsport event on urban public roads highlighted the city's sophisticated civic infrastructure, engineering capability, and organizational excellence.
The Chief Minister noted that the motorsport championship builds upon Tamil Nadu's remarkable record of hosting premier international tournaments, including the 44th Chess Olympiad, Asian Champions Trophy hockey, Squash World Cup, and Khelo India Youth Games. He pointed out that strategic government investments in specialized sports arenas, athlete stipends, and grassroots talent scouting have positioned the state as the recognized sports capital of India.
Stalin highlighted that Tamil Nadu athletes now represent a substantial portion of India's Olympic contingent, reflecting consistent state patronage and world-class training facilities. He affirmed that the Dravidian Model governance framework prioritizes sports as an essential instrument for youth development, health, and global prestige. The Chief Minister urged the sports department to sustain this momentum, encouraging young athletes across all districts to achieve international podium finishes.
