Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin watched director Mari Selvaraj's critically acclaimed film Vaazhai in San Francisco, deeply moved by its poignant portrayal of rural child laborers and marginalized working-class families. Congratulating Selvaraj on creating a realistic cinematic masterpiece based on true historical events, Stalin remarked that the harrowing hunger experienced by the young protagonist, Sivanaindhan, profoundly touched his heart.
The Chief Minister noted that witnessing such raw deprivations reinforced his deep personal conviction behind implementing the Chief Minister's Breakfast Scheme across Tamil Nadu's government primary schools. Stalin affirmed that the landmark nutrition program was specifically designed to ensure that no child in the state is ever forced to attend class on an empty stomach or drop out due to extreme poverty across rural or urban localities.
Stalin stated that socially transformative progressive cinema mirrors social realities while strengthening the moral resolve of democratic governments to enact healing social interventions. He expressed optimism that compassionate public welfare policies, free education, and robust nutritional support will steadily heal historical socio-economic wounds, empowering underprivileged children across Tamil Nadu to pursue their dreams with dignity and pride and social confidence.
