DMK President and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin conferred the coveted Kalaignar Award, instituted in memory of former Chief Minister and DMK patriarch M. Karunanidhi, on veteran parliamentarian and party leader S. Jagathrakshakan at the party's seventy-fifth anniversary Mupperum Vizha in Chennai. Stalin lauded Jagathrakshakan for his decades of dedicated organizational service, generous philanthropic initiatives, and steadfast loyalty to party leadership throughout his public career.

The Chief Minister recalled Jagathrakshakan's distinguished career as a multi-term Member of Parliament from Arakkonam and former Union Minister of State, noting his consistent defense of state rights and active promotion of educational access for rural students. Stalin emphasized that the Kalaignar Award recognizes leaders who embody Karunanidhi's tireless work ethic, organizational dynamism, and deep commitment to uplifting backward and marginalized communities across Tamil Nadu.

Stalin observed that experienced leaders like Jagathrakshakan provide organizational stability, guidance, and political mentorship to younger generations of DMK cadres across northern Tamil Nadu. He congratulated Jagathrakshakan on receiving the party's highest individual honor, wishing him good health, long life, and continued success in his public service for the Dravidian movement.
