Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M.K. Stalin welcomed the historic Supreme Court ruling granting bail to former state minister V. Senthilbalaji after four hundred and seventy-one days of judicial incarceration. Stalin criticized the Union Government for transforming the Enforcement Directorate into a partisan instrument designed solely to persecute political opponents and destabilize democratically elected opposition state administrations across India.
The Chief Minister observed that Senthilbalaji's prolonged imprisonment without trial exceeded the detention periods witnessed even during the 1975 Emergency, describing the fifteen months of incarceration as a politically motivated conspiracy. He noted that the central ruling dispensation had attempted to break the minister's political resolve and weaken the DMK organization through sustained legal intimidation and denied bail.
Stalin affirmed that the Supreme Court remains the ultimate beacon of hope for preserving constitutional liberties and fundamental civil rights against federal executive excesses. Welcoming Senthilbalaji back into public life as an even more resilient leader, the Chief Minister praised his personal sacrifice and steadfast party loyalty, asserting that democratic institutions and people's movements will always triumph over authoritarian political suppression.
