Had a cordial meeting with Hon’ble Prime Minister Thiru. @narendramodi, where I discussed key issues concerning Tamil Nadu:

🚆 Requested the release of the Union Government’s share for Phase 2 of the jointly implemented Chennai Metro, noting that several states which initiated their metro projects after Tamil Nadu have already received their funds.

📖 Urged the immediate release of Samagra Shiksha funds, currently withheld due to the non-implementation of the #NEP. Tamil Nadu has long upheld a two-language policy, reflecting the will of our people.

🛶 Called for urgent intervention regarding the repeated arrests of Tamil Nadu fishermen by the Sri Lankan Navy.

Looking forward to swift and positive action from the Prime Minister on these important matters for the benefit of Tamil Nadu.

Editorial context

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin held a cordial bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi to present several critical demands concerning the state's financial entitlements and public welfare. Chief among his representations was the immediate release of the Union Government's committed equity share for Phase 2 of the Chennai Metro Rail project, noting that states that initiated metro plans much later had already received their central allocations.

Stalin strongly urged the Union government to release pending educational grants under the Samagra Shiksha scheme, which have been withheld over Tamil Nadu's refusal to implement the National Education Policy. He reaffirmed that the state remains resolutely committed to its historic two-language formula of Tamil and English, reflecting the democratic will of its citizens.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister demanded decisive diplomatic intervention to protect Tamil Nadu fishermen from recurring mid-sea harassment and apprehensions by the Sri Lankan Navy, urging the retrieval of impounded fishing mechanized trawlers. Stalin expressed hope that the Prime Minister would act promptly on these pressing issues to safeguard cooperative federalism and the socio-economic interests of Tamil Nadu.
