Editorial context

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin extended an open invitation to Tamils across the globe to visit the historic Keeladi archaeological excavation site and state-of-the-art museum in Sivagangai district. Stalin described Keeladi as definitive archaeological proof of an advanced, secular, and literate Sangam age urban civilization that flourished along the Vaigai river basin over two thousand six hundred years ago.

The Chief Minister highlighted that scientific carbon dating and epigraphical analysis of artifacts unearthed at Keeladi have systematically established the antiquity of Tamil civilization, pushing back the timeline of urbanization in South India. He recalled that his government prioritized the construction of the world-class Keeladi museum to showcase these precious antiquities, pottery inscriptions, weaving tools, and trading artifacts with modern curation and multimedia displays.

Stalin emphasized that understanding Keeladi is vital for every Tamil to appreciate their cultural roots, rationalist heritage, and historical contributions to global human civilization. He affirmed that the state government will continue expanding archaeological excavations across Tamil Nadu, ensuring that our ancestral heritage is preserved, researched, and celebrated for future generations of historians and international scholars worldwide.
