Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin convened a high-level inter-departmental review meeting with senior administrative officials in Chennai to evaluate statewide preparedness for the impending Northeast Monsoon. Stalin instructed district collectors, municipal corporations, public works authorities, and disaster response teams to coordinate their efforts seamlessly to safeguard citizens and prevent urban inundation during intense rainfall.
The Chief Minister directed officials to inspect stormwater drainage networks, desilt major canals, reinforce vulnerable water bodies, and position high-capacity dewatering pumps in low-lying localities prone to waterlogging. He emphasized that early warning systems, round-the-clock emergency control rooms, and pre-identified relief shelters equipped with food, drinking water, and medical supplies must operate continuously across vulnerable coastal and interior districts.
Stalin urged administrative teams to maintain rapid-response emergency teams, keep heavy earthmovers on standby, and ensure uninterrupted power supply to critical healthcare facilities throughout the monsoon season. He affirmed that proactive governance, continuous field monitoring, and coordinated administrative execution will minimize civic disruption and protect public safety. The state administration remains committed to implementing resilient flood mitigation protocols and humanitarian relief assistance across all thirty-eight districts of Tamil Nadu.
