I congratulate Hon'ble Health Minister @Subramanian_ma for his dedication in successfully implementing this scheme, and the @TNHealthDept secretary, doctors, nurses, and staff for their tireless efforts leading to this global recognition.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin celebrated the prestigious 2024 United Nations Interagency Task Force Award conferred on the state government's pioneering flagship healthcare initiative, Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam. The international award, presented by the World Health Organization and UN task force, recognized the scheme's outstanding impact in screening and managing non-communicable diseases by delivering medical treatments directly to citizens' doorsteps.
Stalin announced that the doorstep healthcare program has benefited more than 1.80 crore citizens across Tamil Nadu, providing free medications for hypertension, diabetes, and palliative therapies without requiring rural patients to travel to distant hospitals. He congratulated Health Minister Ma. Subramanian, Health Secretary, government doctors, field nurses, and village healthcare workers for their tireless dedication that earned global acclaim for the state.
The Chief Minister observed that the initiative exemplifies the Dravidian Model philosophy of universal public healthcare accessibility and social dignity. He reaffirmed the government's commitment to continually expand diagnostic screenings, modernize community health clinics, and introduce advanced therapies, ensuring that every citizen receives equitable and quality medical care regardless of geographic location or economic background, advancing universal public health standards statewide.
