Chief Minister M.K. Stalin paid tribute to anti-caste leader and freedom fighter Tyagi Immanuel Sekaranar on his birth anniversary, honoring his historic dedication to Indian national liberation and the social emancipation of oppressed communities. Stalin recalled Sekaranar's participation in the Quit India Movement and his pioneering leadership in organizing civil rights rallies against untouchability and discriminatory practices like the two-tumbler system.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the Dravidian Model government fulfilled a longstanding demand of marginalized communities by sanctioning a grand memorial hall featuring Sekaranar's bronze statue at Paramakudi, where the leader was laid to rest. He noted that the memorial commemorates the leader's centenary, serving as a permanent symbol of social justice and civil dignity.
Stalin affirmed that Sekaranar's relentless struggles against caste oppression continue to inspire contemporary policies aimed at dismantling systemic inequalities. He reiterated the state government's resolve to uphold egalitarian principles, eliminate caste-based discrimination, and promote educational and economic opportunities for Scheduled Castes. Stalin concluded that honoring historical civil rights pioneers provides essential inspiration for advancing social reform and constitutional equality and human dignity across Tamil society today.
