Chief Minister M.K. Stalin commended sanitation workers, municipal staff, and civic officers for their selfless commitment during intense monsoon rains across Chennai. Stalin highlighted that frontline workers labored untiringly around the clock, disregarding personal comfort and challenging weather conditions to clear choked drainage inlets, remove fallen debris, and relieve public distress in inundated neighborhoods.
The Chief Minister described these sanitation workers and ground-level municipal employees as the true frontline warriors of the city, affirming that he will always stand shoulder to shoulder with them in supporting their dignity and welfare. He noted that their tireless field efforts prevented severe civic stagnation and minimized disruption to essential daily services for millions of residents.
Stalin directed corporation officials to ensure that all sanitation personnel are provided with hot meals, protective rain gear, safety boots, and regular medical checkups during emergency duty. He reiterated that public gratitude is owed to the dedicated workforce that maintains city functionality during extreme weather, affirming the state's ongoing commitment to safeguarding municipal workers' rights and well-being. He concluded that the city owes its resilience to these dedicated public health workers.
