My hearty congratulations to Hon’ble @OmarAbdullah on assuming office as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir!
Although I received an invitation from @JKNC_ President, Respected Farooq Abdullah, to attend the swearing-in ceremony, due to the ongoing heavy rains in Tamil Nadu and my responsibility to oversee the relief efforts, I have deputed my sister, @KanimozhiDMK, leader of the DMK Parliamentary Party, to extend my best wishes on behalf of myself and the DMK.
Let Tamil Nadu, at the southern tip, and Jammu and Kashmir, at the northernmost point of the Indian subcontinent, move forward together in the democratic struggle to secure state rights. Together, we shall achieve victory!

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin congratulated Omar Abdullah upon his swearing-in as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir following assembly elections. Stalin explained that while he received an invitation from National Conference President Farooq Abdullah to attend the ceremony, he remained in Chennai to oversee urgent monsoon relief operations, deputing DMK Parliamentary Party Leader Kanimozhi to represent Tamil Nadu at the event.
In his message, Stalin emphasized that Jammu and Kashmir in the far north and Tamil Nadu at the southern tip share a common constitutional mission to defend state rights and federal autonomy. He characterized the electoral outcome as a profound democratic assertion by the people of Kashmir, affirming their desire for self-governance and full statehood restoration.
Stalin expressed solidarity with the newly formed administration in Srinagar, pledging that the DMK will support Jammu and Kashmir's democratic aspirations in national forums. He reiterated that genuine federalism requires decentralizing administrative authority and respecting regional mandates, concluding that joint democratic struggles will ultimately safeguard cooperative federal principles across India. The Chief Minister reiterated that strengthening regional partnerships deepens democratic representation nationwide.
