Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin delivered the keynote address at the official release ceremony of the book titled Dravidian Movement and Black Movement, authored by Higher Education Minister Dr. K. Ponmudi. The publication examines comparative historical methodologies adopted by anti-caste reformers in southern India and civil rights activists in the United States who fought institutional segregation and racial discrimination.
Stalin stated that both movements emerged from shared human aspirations to dismantle hereditary privilege, racial prejudice, and social degradation. He emphasized that the Dravidian movement redefined political power in Tamil Nadu by making education, legislative representation, and administrative access universal rights rather than exclusive caste entitlements. The Chief Minister pointed out that progressive literature serves an indispensable role in preserving collective memory and inspiring ongoing democratic reforms.
Stalin commended Dr. Ponmudi for his rigorous archival research, asserting that such scholarly analyses bridge regional struggles with international human rights discourses. He affirmed that the Dravidian Model administration remains firmly rooted in these egalitarian principles, promoting inclusive social policies and educational equity that prioritize historically marginalized populations and create substantial regional employment opportunities across the state.
