Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin ordered emergency relief and mitigation operations across Madurai district following severe localized inundation caused by intense rainfall. Stalin deputed Commercial Taxes Minister P. Moorthy and Information Technology Minister PTR Palanivel Thiaga Rajan to oversee field interventions and coordinate rescue efforts with local civic authorities.
The Chief Minister contacted the Madurai District Collector directly, instructing administrative machinery to prioritize water draining in affected residential pockets. Giant electric dewatering pumps, specialized engineers, and sanitation staff were deployed from neighboring municipalities to expedite floodwater clearance across submerged thoroughfares. The administration established twenty medical relief centers across vulnerable zones and accommodated affected families in three secure relief camps equipped with essential food and drinking water.
Stalin confirmed that the state monitoring officer for Madurai had arrived to supervise on-ground measures, while the Chief Secretary and Commissioner of Disaster Management tracked operations from the state capital. He assured residents that district authorities were working on a war footing to restore normalcy, provide healthcare assistance, and safeguard public health until weather conditions stabilized completely. The administration assured sustained assistance until complete recovery was achieved across all inundated localities.
