Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin conducted extensive interactions with Coimbatore's traditional goldsmiths and gold jewelry manufacturing associations, meeting industry delegates at noon before making an unannounced evening visit to their workshops. Stalin observed firsthand the delicate handcrafted gold jewelry fabrication processes, discussing working conditions, raw material availability, taxation concerns, and export logistics directly with artisans and micro-entrepreneurs.
Later in the day, the Chief Minister inspected the construction of a dedicated working women and laborers' hostel at the Kurichi SIDCO Industrial Estate, designed to provide safe, subsidized accommodation for industrial workers. Responding to longstanding appeals from local jewelry associations, Stalin formally announced that the state government will establish a specialized, modern Gold Jewelry Industrial Park in Coimbatore.
Stalin emphasized that Coimbatore's skilled goldsmiths contribute significantly to India's jewelry exports, assuring the community that the proposed industrial park will feature common testing labs, hallmark certification facilities, and modern casting infrastructure. He reaffirmed his administration's pledge to support traditional craft clusters, protect worker welfare, and upgrade regional manufacturing capacity to international standards across Tamil Nadu, ensuring economic resilience and livelihood security for all artisans.
