Chief Minister M.K. Stalin delivered the keynote address at a grand foundation-laying ceremony in Coimbatore for the Thanthai Periyar Library and Science Centre. Stalin described the project as a monumental educational tribute to rationalist leader Periyar E.V. Ramasamy, who tirelessly advocated for scientific rationalism, universal education, and critical inquiry to dismantle regressive social hierarchies across Tamil society.

The Chief Minister announced that the multi-story knowledge complex, modeled after the successful Anna Centenary Library in Chennai and Kalaignar Centenary Library in Madurai, will feature hundreds of thousands of academic volumes, cutting-edge planetarium technologies, digital learning studios, and state-of-the-art competitive exam preparation centers. He noted that the center will serve millions of school and college students across western districts.

Stalin emphasized that the Dravidian Model governance pairs physical industrial progress with advanced intellectual infrastructure. He urged students and youth in Coimbatore to utilize the future facility fully to pursue higher scientific learning and public service careers. Stalin concluded by reaffirming his government's commitment to completing the project with top architectural quality and opening its doors within the announced timeframe for the entire student community.
