Chief Minister M.K. Stalin conferred the prestigious Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi Classical Tamil Award upon distinguished researcher Dr. Ma. Selvarasan on behalf of the Central Institute of Classical Tamil in Chennai. The ceremonial presentation recognized Dr. Selvarasan's lifetime of rigorous linguistic research, textual criticism, and scholarly documentation advancing the antiquity and grammatical sophistication of classical Tamil literature.
During the same official event, Stalin inaugurated modernized classroom complexes, laboratory blocks, and smart learning facilities constructed across various government schools by the School Education Department. The Chief Minister emphasized that former Chief Minister Karunanidhi spearheaded the long historic struggle that secured official Classical Language status for Tamil from the Union Government in 2004, establishing the Central Institute of Classical Tamil to advance global scholarly research.
Stalin affirmed that the Dravidian Model governance pairs veneration for classical heritage with aggressive investments in modern public school education. He pointed out that providing high-tech learning infrastructure in government schools ensures that subaltern students acquire contemporary digital competencies while maintaining deep roots in their linguistic identity. Stalin reiterated his government's resolve to continue patronizing classical linguistic research and modernizing school classrooms statewide.
